Another successful event for the Woodbridge group, on Thursday 8th November 2012.
Over 100 ladies attended a cookery demonstration at The Riverside, Stratford St Andrew with Jason Shaw, head chef from the White Lion Hotel, Aldeburgh and Emma Crowhurst, cookery writer and chef.
Emma demonstrated how to put together a stunning choix tower using chocolate and strawberries. She then showed us how to impress our dinner guests using spun sugar. Jason demonstrated how to make the most perfect Creme Anglais. As if that wasn’t enough, the White Lion provided lunch for all the guests. On the menu were Chicken Cassoulet, Beef Bourguignon and Sausage casserole, followed by the most delicious lemon tarts and pastries. A foodies’ heaven!
We were supported very generously with tombola prizes from local businesses and in total made £2,200 which has been split between Breakthrough Breast Cancer and St Marys Church, Farnham.
The biggest thank you to the chefs, Jason and Emma for a superb demonstration (what a comedy double act) and to Peter, Anya and all the staff at the White Lion Hotel for providing all the food for the lunch, the technical skills so everyone could see the demonstration and for providing the most amazing tombola prize – a complimentary nights stay with evening meal at The White Lion Hotel at Aldeburgh.
A huge thank you to Judith Norman of St Mary’s Church, Farnham PCC, who had the initial idea to host a cookery demonstration and worked tirelessly to cajoule the local businesses in to providing either tombola prizes or culinary delights to put in the goody bag. Thank you too to all the helpers who set up the room and then cleared up. And to Elaine Warmingham and Mary Hill for providing two beautiful flower arrangements.
Another huge thank you to all the businesses who supported the event;
Sutton Hoo Chicken and Dingley Dell Pork who provided the chicken and sausages for the delicious lunch;
Stokes Sauces who provided a large pot of mayonnaise for inclusion in the goody bags;
Jenny at Inspired Events for providing signed cookery books;
Munchy Seeds who provided sample packs to put in the goody bags
